Drama Production Photographs, 1968-2003

This collection documents Juilliard’s Drama Division productions since its founding in 1968. The renowned American director, producer, and theater administrator John Houseman was the first head of the Drama Division (1968-1976) with French director, teacher, and actor Michel Saint-Denis as principal adviser and Margot Harley as administrator. A four-year curriculum was instituted, based upon pedagogical principals devised by Saint-Denis and his wife Suria for their European and Canadian conservatories. Included are photos of drama productions, early Acting Company performances (the Acting Company was formed in 1972 by John Houseman with members of the first graduating class), and Lincoln Center Student Program productions that were presented under the auspices of the Lincoln Center Institute.
